Eclipses are generally considered as time of chaos, something that is going to churn and show us the things that we have been ignoring or postponing.
Eclipses are generally considered to leave a bad taste and for the ones’ happening in October, I would say, it’s the time to reset, re-look, re-think, reflect and be ready for new challenges, changes and be an elevated version of yourself.
Annular Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan) happening on the 14th Oct 2023 (the last solar eclipse of the year and the first one on the Pisces – Virgo axis)
Partial Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) happening on the 28th-29th Oct 2023 (the last one on the Aries-Libra axis)
Rahu (the north node of the moon) is currently placed in the sign of Aries (Mesha) and Ketu (the south node of the moon) is placed in the sign of Libra since the 12th April 2022
Further, Rahu & Ketu will be changing their signs from the 30th Oct 2023. Rahu (the north node of the moon) will be moving into Pisces and Ketu (the south node of the moon) will be transiting in the sign of Virgo. Hence the partial lunar eclipse happening on the 28th-29th Oct 2023, will be considered as the final one on the Aries-Libra axis.
Note : I follow the side- real Vedic astrology for my analysis and predictions. Also for calculations around Rahu-Ketu, I follow the mean node.
This blog mainly focuses on the Solar eclipse that would occur on the 14th October 2023.
In simple words , one can understand the phenomenon of solar eclipse as follows:
‘While orbiting around the earth, when the Moon comes in between the Sun and Earth, thereby blocking Sun and preventing sunlight from reaching us is when the solar eclipses occurs.’
I found the most easiest way of understanding this phenomenon through Nasa.gov.
An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, but when it is at or near its farthest point from Earth. Because the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller than the Sun and does not completely cover the Sun. As a result, the Moon appears as a dark disk on top of a larger, bright disk, creating what looks like a ring around the Moon.
The Annular Solar Eclipse begins on the 14th Oct 2023 at 20:33:50 (Pune , IST) & 15:03:50 UTC.
Maximum Eclipse takes place at 23:39:32 (Pune , IST) & 17:59:32 UTC.
Eclipse ends at 02:25:16 on 15th Oct 2023 (Pune , IST) & 20:55:16 UTC (14th Oct 2023).
West Africa, North America, South America, Canada, Pacific, Atlantic, Artic, some parts of Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, Argentina, Cuba, Barbados, Peru, Uruguay, Antigua, Venezuela, Jamaica, Haiti, Paraguay, Brazil, Dominica, Bahamas, etc.
This eclipse isn’t visible in India. Hence the Sutak rituals won’t be applicable, however astrologically it is bound to impact all of us.
Note : To consider the accuracy of timings, have considered both the local panchang (almanac) as well as the time and date
Now let’s understand the position and degrees of planets involved during the eclipse :

If you are getting confused that despite Ketu being in Libra sign, the eclipses are taking place in Virgo sign, then please don’t. The degree variation needs to be 5 degrees , so if the Sun and moon are forming such connection with either of the nodes, then the eclipse occurs. This time the connection is happening in Virgo, however the last eclipse of the year will be in Libra, which would be a final one.
As the eclipse is happening in Chitra Nakshatra, ruled by Mars and astrologically, in the sky mars is placed with Ketu in Libra, one needs to take care of aggression. Avoid losing control over your emotions.
